@arretjeknar Get some education. The soundtrack is "Walkürenritt" from "Die Walküre" opera by Richard Wagner and NOT situated in Switzerland - but not at sea either.

Patching a crack? You mean like a crack in the hull or something? As if being there in the first place isn't scary enough. Yikes

Would a drogue have helped in this situation? Any experienced sailors have comments?

some near broaches. I think more dangerous than people are saying here.

the boat is easily handling the conditions with what is a small jib (not quite a storm jib). It is a heavy displacement yacht which is taking the conditions in her stride. she will almost certainly have an engine, which she is obviously not using in this video, she isn't spinning like a top, and she mght surf but it'll take a bigger swell than that
The footage was taken in the Helgoland region.
According a german post, the filming was done from aboard a resque helicopter (that couldn't rescue anyone on account of too severe conditions).
The crew was struggling with patching upp a crack and keeping the pumps running so the speculations about how they should have handled the situation (eg how mouch sail and ancor, etc) are most unapropiate.
The boat didn't sink and the crew got to safety 3 houres later.
I tink the boat looks great.
