2009 NEW MacBook 8-Hour Battery

Announced in the 2009 MacWorld Keynotes Convention, the new 17" MacBook Pro comes with a battery that can hold an 8-hour charge and be recharged fully 1,000 times. That's 3 times more than the typical notebook. It is available in the Apple Store starting at $2,799.

i own a macbook pro 2.8 Ghz mid 2009. they claimed 7-8h battery life

but it never lasted longer than 1 h 45 min from the beginning even with the "energy saving alternate graphic card enabled

@Tetanus512 Unfortunately you're pretty much right. It really only lasts 7-8 hrs when you're using basic programs like Text Edit or Mail. Watching videos, using graphic intense programs, multi-tasking programs, etc. all kill the battery life super fast.

After a while, every time you recharge your laptop you lose a little bit of its maximum capacity. Most batteries are only able to be FULLY 100% charged around 300 to 400 times. Apple has just made the battery life time last longer.

Bull crap, I have the new macbook and it does NOT last 8 hours. You get 4 hours BEST from doing a simple task as using safari, get about 2:30 from using programs like FCP and MAYA.
