• Can you tell me some countries where they developed without destroying the nature ? Just name any country from US to Europe to Australia.

Even your predecessor destroyed nature by choping down trees ! ... if you dont have the luxury Dubai offers to everyone ... dont cry foul.

  • Shaikhdom in Dubai is better then democracy like U-ASS-A... cause the citizens of Dubai are living better life then Americans at the end thats what really matters, why I'll vote for some who'll harm his own nation and others too. BTW I'm a Bangladeshi/Australian born in Dubai.

  • Dubai totally destroyed the coastline ecological environment, the "palm" islands cut off nastural currents and destroyed natural reefs.

  • You should read "Survey of Sub-Saharan Africa". I believe its his best work

  • Bravo! Mr. de Blij, I refer your book, "Why geography matters" to everybody.

  • hehehe ignorance is great :)

  • Sept/Oct 2006 issue of New Left Review contains an article by Mike Davis "Fear and Money in Dubai". Eye-opening stuff. Mr. de Blij fails to mention the ecological havoc produced by the building of the "palm frond" artificial peninsula & the corruption in Dubai, the tax shelters, etc etc etc. READ THAT ARTICLE! It's available online. Just Google it.
