They preformed together all their lifes. When they were boys they had a small act on a radio show, with there family. In 1957 they got their hit Bye Bye Love and toured all over the world, with many hits to fallow. In 1973 they parted never speaking for ten years. But in Sept 1983 they got back together for their reunion at London's Royal Albert Hall. They toured again for a bit. Now retired Don is 72 and Phil is 70. But not to sure where they are now. Hope this helps and sorry about spelling.

I have to agree that Merle's style lends itself better to the lyrics of this song. However, the Everly Brothers did a fantastic, although 'upbeat' rendition.

@poisonfan86 It was sad to hear about Don's drug use but remember, many stars were given speed by the people who would profit from their performances, the more they appeared, the bigger the profit. Can't even imagine trying to perform night after night without getting tired. They had to sleep and wake on demand,,,, Not trying to make excuses for them but it is something to ponder....The Good thing is the end of the story concerning the drugs...He got help and beat the addiction.!
