This video shows how to take down a Ruger P95. I didn't get into how to actually clean it, and as y ou can see my gun needs to be cleaned. I shot about 200 rounds through it today and haven't taken the time to clean it yet. If anyone wants a video on how to clean this model of gun or questions on how to take down and clean any kind of gun, leave them in the comments. I'd be more than happy to answer questions and make more instructional videos.

  • the round was loaded and you released the hammer but the round didnt discharge...WTF? Did I miss something people?

  • @silverpizza100 Yes, you did miss something. Its a decock lever. Watch my "basic pistol parts and functions" video, or the "more on the decock lever" video.

The lever recesses the inertial firing pin into the gun so that the hammer falls, striking the frame andnot firing the round. This allows you to drop the hammer safely, and the gun fires double action on the first shot, single action thereafter.

    Thanks for watching/commenting.

  • what happens if you just need to cleen it can you just lock the slide back and just put the cleaning rod down the berrel it or will damage the gun ? plese let me know

  • You can just rod the barrel from the breech end if you've only fired a few rounds through it, but you should take it down and polish the ramp to ensure you don't have problems with mis-feeds. Learn to take it down and clean it thoroughly each time. Once you're practiced at it, it will only take about 5 minutes to do and you'll ensure the gun will function well and last a lifetime.

Some argue that inserting the brush from the muzzle end will damage the barrel, I'm not sure why they think that.

  • Watch my cleaning video for the P95.

  • Its three steps: Lock the slide, flip the lever, drop the slide. Have you ever taken down a 1911 or an AR-15? This is not that complicated

  • Just an FYI barrel length is measured from the bolt face forward not from the inside edge of the chamber. So they are correct about barrel length you are wrong.

  • Thanks for the video.

  • Thank you for the video. I was sort of lost trying to take this gun down while reading the manual.

  • I did a take down on my gun and it got jammed. The ejector blocked it from sliding back all the way and it stopped it from coming off and the trigger fell out. I took a pick and hook set and used a 45 angle to pull the ejector down from the bottom of the gun. I can do a take down but it still has a trigger problem. Any ideas what happen to the trigger assembly?

  • OK! now i got it! Thanks!

  • Thank you for your video :) Knowledge is always a welcome treat.

  • This helped a lot. I just purchased my P95 and couldn't figure out how to get the slide to release. Would have never notices the flip down component in the receiver. Thx

  • This vid was way to easy to understand. I think that I could field strip the pistol, but then again it just seems to easy. Something must be wrong. Oh, no, wait, it is an easy pistol to take of. Damn Ruger American made guns---lol.

  • You should keep one in the pipe plus your magazine maxed out for self defence...

  • You do a great job here! In the armed service I know just were they will use you! Keep instructing ,you are very good!!
