Bad hydrants seem to be a major epidemic in the D.C. area for as long as I can remember. I am just glad no one was home/injured or killed at this fire.
It's an emotional lost too. I'm sure everything is well insured, but that's not really the point here, is it? If I were in her collection I would immediately send a gift piece to Peggy. Just as a card of sympathy if nothing else. Just some real tangible piece of a memory. Maybe even if you weren't in her collection, but an artist.
one of the few supporters of spike lee's Malcolm x, that wasn't an entertainer or sport star. sure looks different than the heroics of ladder 42!:(

What a tragedy. It looks pretty clear that the house could have been saved if there had been sufficient water and water pressure.
