Dr. Mayim Bialik 2011 Commencement Address

Penn State Lehigh Valley welcomed Dr. Mayim Bialik as the distinguished guest speaker during the 2011 Commencement Ceremony , which took place at Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, PA, May 7, 2011. Dr. Bialik is most known for her acting roles as Blossom Russo during the 90s and Amy Farrah Fowler in the current sitcom, The Big Bang Theory.

Mayim, you are a complete inspiration. I too have been to Grad school and now have a Masters degree and like you, always consider if I am good enough compared to my peers. Then a good friend reminded me the other day that my acheivements are brilliant and that I should stop comparing myself to others. If I can have half the wit, intelligence and integrity of Mayim, I think I'd be doing well. Good luck to everyone in all your life pursuits.

I found myself crying at some points of this speech, I can totally relate to the frustration University can sometimes bring, and at the same time, how fulfilling it is to overcome the difficulties and go through with your passion.
