  • To the few individuals putting Ginger Baker down; let's see and hear how well you play percussion on YouTube.

  • Ginger Baker cares enough about his sound to know when a tom is out of tune - and cool enough to tune it mid solo if necessary.

  • Hello everybody , I'm a 55 years old drummer who loves old school rock drummers ....to name a few , Ian Paice , John Bonham , Mitch Mitchell....and don't want to sound without respect to Mr Baker ...but what is the great drumming from Ginger ? Sorry can't understand why this guy is so important to you guys . Have my regards and don't feel hurt about my words , just asking . Thxs.

  • As much as I appreciate Gingers playing he was not the one who opened it up for rock drummers that honor goes to Ron Bushy of the Iron Butterfly with his extended solo on the 17 minute 1968 track "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida".This was a major hit and Ron has played a solo on every performance since. It was such a big hit that many cover bands played it with of course a drum solo. This really opened the door to many drummers getting the chance to stretch out

  • "Special Olympics" for percussion players! Please put away those sticks Ginger...please.

  • @TumbrelJockey yes way ahead of his time studying african beats even back in the 60's he was touring africa and listening to the wealth of rhythms he put rock drumming on the map also another was robert wyatt although more on the jazz front 2 great drummers

  • ginger put the rock drummer on the map also way ahead of his time studying african drums / beats also in his prime showing you do not need loads of drums and cimbals, also another pioneer was robert wyatt

  • How many 70 year old men can still play the drums? He was one of the best in his day.

  • he still has that classic cream drum sound ;p

  • bless his heart! one of the greats!!!!!
