The other games on that Crash Smashes pack were Sweevo's World and the first Jack The Nipper...that's how I first played Starquake too. Never quite finished it, I actually got down to just one piece of the core left once and then ran out of bridging platforms at a crucial moment on my last life o_O ...couldn't bring myself to play through it all again after that, and like you said, I haven't got the same ability 20 years later now either. Great game though.

Steven Crow also did Firelord which I bought back in the day as one half of a compilation with Uridium. The sound effects and graphical style are similar to this game. It was very polished, but much much too difficult so I ended up playing Uridium a lot more.
