Apart from the video of my chinese taking down the dragonfly, this is one of the most intense video's I've shot of mantis vs. prey. This is my O. planiceps, a little under an inch and a half, taking down a cricket her size.

  • I love this species - I keep them comunally, even though they are agressive, I did not have too many cases of cannibalism.

  • Woops, I was signed into the wrong account.

  • @ 0:02 get over here bastard lol

  • Its amazing to see that the mantis can over-power an insect the same size as it, and support its whole body in its from arms! Truly amazing insects and by far my favorite species of insect.

  • nice that thing like bashed the cricked around

  • good video. really shows how succesful they are at hunting. born killers lol

  • Yeah, in a quite large one with plentitude of food.

But if you want a communall species, you got to go with Unicorns or some Empusidae.

  • Wow, that is amazing. Mine would eat each other up pretty quickly. Are they housed in a large container?

  • LOL the cricket crawled on it
