more like: 1930 Happy Days Are Here Again (lets pretend nothing happened and overproduce) 1931 I Found A Million Dollar Baby (illusion of riches before impending doom) 1932 Brother Can You Spare A Dime (just plain flat broke):-)

What happy music--seven months before the Crash, and then Buddy can you spare a dime music came in. Interesting that Breakaway was recorded on April Fools day.

One of the first records I found when I started collecting 20 years ago and hadn't heard it in a long time.Has that happy 20s sound.

Great tune! George Olsen "and his music" really captures the 20's atomosphere.

Boy, I'd give anything to see the Breakaway performed in "Fox Movietone Follies", the now lost movie it came from. Most recordings of the song is good, though I really like the Dorsey Bros. hot instrumental best.

Recorded on April 1 ,1929- vocal by Fran Frey. Eddie Kilfeather conducts the orchestra here, in Olsen's absence. Originally released as "Breakaway" on [American] Victor 21961.
