  • @DonSnakeEyez Actually the conk goes back to the 20's, Duke Ellington, and most of the stars from that era, down to the black power movement had conks. Malcolm X had his conked in the 40's as old photos will attest. When permed hair came back in the 70's, it was called "the process". You're welcome.

  • @MrLevistubbs That hairstyle is called a 'conk' and was very popular with African American men in the 1950s and 60s. It was widely felt at the time that to be successful in a white-dominated society, one had to conform to their standards with regards to dress, speech, and even physical appearance. As explained by Malcolm X, the conk was an attempt by African Americans to achieve the hair texture of European Americans, and it is now seen as a manifestation of a racial inferiority complex.
