cameras have turned congress into a circus. now everyone just makes speeches from the floor to score points w/ their constituents even when they know full well what the outcome of the next vote will be. these hearings served the same purpose. did anyone actually think she was not going to get confirmed?
TV in Congress has not only dragged out legitimate business like confirming judges, but has given a platform for idiot politicians to hold "hearings" on everything from steroids to video games.

Obama put her in there for the immigration lawsuits that are going to come about when he tries to get amnesty for illegals.
Amnesty for illegals is the biggest threat to this country since it's beginning.

The Senate NEVER held public hearings on Supreme Court nominees UNTIL the invention of television. NONE of the famous Supreme Court Justices of the past EVER were required to have public hearings UNTIL the invention of television. THAT ALONE gives strong evidence that this is a PURELY politically motivated process which is FAR from the Constitutional requirement of advise and consent of nominees by the Senate.
