The roads stretching between Km.17- 35 of Tublay seem to have been reclaimed by the mountains. The enormous landslides stretch over 15 kilometers in Ambassador, Tublay Benguet. The houses along the road are all gone. People as of yesterday (12/10/09), have been walking across the landslides, seeking refuge in Paoad Elementary school in Tublay. Some walked over the 17 kilometers of landslides. Very little help has reached them. People carried heavy sacks of harvested vegetable produce that were spared by the typhoon hoping to be able to sell them before they spoil. Terraces full of cash crops were buried in the mud. Walking back towards the barangay, people carried native black pigs to be used in traditional burial ceremonies for those that perished. Further beyond Km 35 are more towns and barangays where help has not yet reached. Visibilty is low due to the heavy fog, thus not allowing relief air drop-offs. At the moment, the only way to get relief across is by foot. Efforts have to be doubled to get aid to the interior villages of the Cordillera. (Video footage by Ferdie Balanag)
