Waitaki Power station

Hydro station at the Waitake River, South Island, New Zealand.
These recordings I took in March 1991 when I travelled the South Island with my parents on a holiday.

Finally I found my old VHS-C tapes and decided to put some of this footage on TouTube to share with the world.

Now these days most NZ hydro stations are remotely controlled, and access is almost impossible because you need to make appointments for a visit.

There are more clips to follow from other stations visted during that holiday.

Ahhhh the old Waitaki control room. An electric chair wouldn't have looked out of place there!
