どんちっち時計は石見神楽をモチーフとした仕掛け時計です。
「どんちっち」は神楽を指す方言(赤ちゃん言葉)。
登場するのは囃子方、更に須佐之男命とヤマタノオロチ。出雲神話に題材をとった演目「大蛇」を再現しています。
新浜田駅舎は一部工事中。
石見神楽の囃子は徹夜明けに聴くといいかもしれないです。
This video "Donchicchi Clock" was recorded in August, 2009 at new Hamada Station of JR WEST in Hamada City, Shimane Prefecture, Japan.
The motif in Donchicchi Clock is Iwami-kagura. Just for reference, Kagura is one of the Japanese traditional performing arts. And Iwami-Kagura is principally performed at Iwami district, Shimane Prefecture.
"Donchicchi" is a dialect derived from baby talk which means the rhythm of Kagura.
At the fixed time, Iwami-Kagura's tune starts and Donchicchi Clock begins sliding itself up.
Next, the doll of performers which play musical instruments appear on the stage.
At last, the doll of Susanoo-no-Mikoto (Japanese God) and Yamata-no-Orochi (the Eight-Forked Serpent) appear on the stage.
This clockwork performance is based on the Iwami-Kagura's item "Orochi(giant snake)" which is derived from the Myth of Izumo district.
About five minutes later, The performance is finished up with Susanoo's victory.
New Hamada Station was still under construction at a part of the left side.
* Iwami-Kagura's tune would be good for your tired brain after staying awake all through the night.
* Sorry, To convey intended nuance might go wrong by my mistakes in translation.
