From his 1978 album Hermit Of Mink Hollow. This was the first Todd Rundgren soon I ever heard, from the film Dumb and Dumber....

LYRICS:

We can't play this game anymore
But can we still be friends
Things just can't go on like before
But can we still be friends
We had something to learn
Now it's time for the wheel to turn
Grains of sand, one by one
Before you know it, all gone

Let's admit we made a mistake
But can we still be friends
Heartbreak's never easy to take
But can we still be friends
It's a strange, sad affair
Sometimes seems like we just don't care
Don't waste time feeling hurt
We've been through hell together

Can we still get together sometime
You know life will still go on and on and on

We awoke from our dream
Things are not always what they seem
Memories linger on
It's like a sweet, sad old song

  • 02:10 - just fucking osm.

  • Nip/Tuck brought me here!

  • I think the point of this song is to go beyond feelings going on right here and now. And to really grow up as human beings for handle feelings as feelings. Grow-up people can see those up above and still be humble for them....And still sometimes can't...I already forgot, what i just said...almost.

  • When it comes to painting a musical picture of losing a lover and the often devastating emotional turmoil humans go through after its "time for the wheel to turn", no one does it better than Todd. The middle section of this song with its swirling bright keyboards that are Todd's signature sound, his "la la las" - it has deep melancholy all over it. But take heart, Todd isn't one to dwell on these matters c'os the next song could be utterly at odds with the last. True Todd fans get it.

  • love this song Clinton!

  • Vanilla sky

  • Have all cds of Todd. Awesome singer and songs amazing. Have loved him for 20 years. This song is my funeral song. He's a genius yes and so underrated

  • @Nalleko Me too, that scene was sweet!

  • Submerge beneath the superficial surface. Search the depths, till you discover the song within your soul.

  • Nip/Tuck brought me!
