Amnesty slams Iran over death penalty

Iran has sharply stepped up its use of public executions, according to Amnesty International.




More than a dozen men, including juveniles, have been hanged in public since the start of the year, the group says.




Its latest report on global human rights makes for grim reading when it comes to the Islamic Republic.




Amnesty says Iran acknowledged 252 executions last year but there were credible reports of more than 300 others.

@artin74 china don t publish but estimated at 5,000 per year, japan has 160 on death row but last year had a moratorium on death penalty, they do have about the safest society,  should be interesting to see how the next few years go with criminals feeling safer from punishment

@surrenderordie1965 theoretically speaking Iran is soverign and has the ability to make and enforce its own laws. If you read the Human Rights Treaty, even though it is signed you will find in the end they declare it is without enforcement ability, it is only a suggestion
