Should ultra-skinny models be banned? The fashion industry claims it is being unfairly pillaged for the 'size 0' phenomenon. But self regulation has done little to weed out emaciated models.
"They have to understand that being thin is our job", states one size 0 model. But following the death of anorexic model, Ana Carolina Reston, designers are coming under pressure not to use skinny models. Spain banned ultra-thin models from Madrid Fashion Week after complaints they encouraged anorexia. "We didn't want teenagers to think excessive slimness is a model of beauty", explains organizer Cuca Solana. But other fashion capitals refuse to follow Spain's lead. "The whole size 0 thing has come from Hollywood not the catwalks", complains Hilary Riva, Chief Executive of London Fashion Week. "It's too simplistic to blame fashion."

What I do not understand is how morbid obesity can be validated by some sort of "fat gene."

I am 176cm and weigh 51 kilos. i have been skinny all my fucking life. If people feel like a I am ill for being this way go fuck yourself.

Natural bodies are beautiful.

Naturally curvy is gorgeous.

Naturally thin is gorgeous.

Morbidly obese is not.

Starving yourself to be that size when you naturally aren't is not.

It is sheer arrogance to deny there is a problem and Greed is behind it. A lot of these models look like inmates of Belsen or Auschwitz ..Fashion organizers who claim there are no problems are not thin themselves. No body should be admitted to the catwalk unless they are of a raesonable weight, and perhaps a medical certificate,( paid for by the fashion "industry" ,as they have more than enough money ).

I'm a size 0 and i dont think I'm to thin !!! im 16 years old and i love being a size 0 and im telling you there's nothing wrong with it ! im sorry i dont want to be OBESE like the rest of american and the world ! these women are beautiful and if kids want to be beautiful like them i dont see whats wrong with going on a diet

and one more thing. being a size 0 doesn't automatically mean you're unhealthy. depends what height. it's one thing to be size 0 at 5'10 then at 5'3.

"real women are beautiful", but i love the skinny ones. so kill me. maybe they should inform the teens that even if they become thin they won't look like these models, which are the most beautiful women in the world. But they shouldn't have used ana carolina ramos when she looked so freakish. I guess they wanted to attract attention whit her shocking look. Why else would anyone use her as a model at that state. And now she's dead. So these are models' professional problems, noone elses.

@07hesky07 I agree. That designer at 15:15 bringing up Kenya- give me a break! And then saying, "fasting models" like having bulimia & anorexia is just fasting... what an idiot. She's probably obsessed with being thin herself.
