Over the hot weekend of 12th-14th June 2009, the Great Central Railway held their popular annual Wartime Weekend merking the 65th Anniversary of D-Day (6th June 1944). This event is covered in two parts as I felt 10 minutes was just not enough to cover everything.
The video starts off the the D-Day speech made by General Eisenhower which I got from a CD I bought at the event. All of these clips were filmed over the course of the weekend with a few special black and which effects thrown in.
The majority of the footage was filmed at Quorn including the Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane flypast and the poppy drop (in Pt1). The scenes at Rothley (aka 'Rothley sur Mere' set in occupied France) were taken at about 5.00pm as they were packing away.
The Locos running were:
-ex.SR 'King Arthur' Class No.30777 "Sir Lamiel'
-ex. LMS 8F No.48305
-ex. GCR Robinson 04 No.63601
-Class 33 No.D6535 & 4-BIG No.7059
