This video is a compilation of some of the highlights of my computer game environment design over the past 10 years. It includes content from the following games: Quake1, Quake2, Gunman Chronicles, Half Life, Half Life 2, and Unreal Tournament 2004. Set to music from Tin Star and featuring cameos from Quake's Shambler and Rewolf Software's Renesaurus, I think you'll find it not only captivating, but humorous. Higher quality versions are at www.dwbgallery.com/ld.html

I'm glad this video has raised interest in game design. It's just like most things - it requires many years of hard work before you can even think of getting paid for it (for most people, anyway). In short, it must be your passion. Otherwise creating content for games will only be a hobby for you. If you truly are interested, then pick up one of the current crop of games that come with the developer tools included - Half Life 2, Unreal Tournament 3, and Crysis - and begin to create content for one of them - create monsters/enemies, design levels, create music/sounds, program mods, etc. Join a mod group (or create a new one!) for your favorite game. Oblivion has a ton of mods made for it; most games do. Go to school and get a 4-year or 2-year degree in computer science, graphic design, fine art, writing, music, or business and then put in your application at game development studios. Go to www.igda.org and apply for a free membership and join the igda chapter nearest your house. Go to their meetings. Do all this and you stand a very good chance of becomming a game developer.

  • @TheParkourKing123 Please read the comments on the video. I am not a programmer, so I can not recommend any programming programs or curriculum.

  • Nice work!

Could you put in a good word for me with your former employers? Tell them I taught you everything you know.

  • @foreign96man Now that would just reinforce their reasoning for letting me go, now wouldn't it.

  • love the thumb nail awesome video game architecure

  • no offense but these games look exactly the same

  • @TheParkourKing123

I would recomend starting off with game maker pro and just going through some toutorials for it on you tube till you get the hang of things

dont expect to make great games with that program but its still a very good learning tool

after you have got the hang of that i would recomend getting the basic version of 3D game studio you can make some very cool games quite easily with that program

i would also recomend learing python

    its a simple scripting system

  • sorry i wanted to write 99.999

  • I'm the 999.999 viewer o.O

  • C++ and XNA together for anyone who would like to begin game development, you can make xbox 360 games and pc games and even mobile games(its free), read C++ books bout programming and game programing and learn how game engines work to advance your knowledge in programming. to make it look good, if you enjoy 3d animation, art, graphic design, design, would help tons for you indie game developers, recommend 3DS max, maya, (the autodesk series) it seems most popular, or use blender.

  • haha! i remember playing that in Gunman! great job!

  • @RobloxDrifter1123 It's better looking than the games that were shown.
