2010 marked the 150th anniversary of the UK Cadet Organisations and a special event was organised at Edinburgh Castle on Saturday 12 June 2010 to celebrate the fact.
This video shows extracts from the display by the massed pipes and drums of the cadets forces. The tunes played are:
Opening marches: The Steam Boat and The Bugle Horn
Marches: The Barren Rocks of Aden, Highland Laddie, Mairie's Wedding
Slow Air: The Skye Boat Song
Reel: Itchy Fingers
Closing march: The Glendaruel Highlanders
Although this video only shows the pipes and drums there were also displays of highland dancing by Loretto School Combined Cadet Force, a first aid display by Lothian and Borders Battalion ACF, a drill display by Northern Area Sea Cadet Force and 2535 (Livingstone) Squadron ATC and the military bands of the Cadet Forces.
There are training courses in Inverness for these young pipers and drummers and the bands parade annually in Dingwall and Inverness. I have never been able to catch them there so it was great to get to Edinburgh to see this fine display.
nice resolution and really nice playing
