Jenny Popes Big Challenge: To Enter the Palace as a Court Lady :

Jongmyo Shrine Mission 3
[Prepare Food for the Jongmyo Ritual]

Jeonsacheong Area
Food is one of the essential things in the Jongmyo Shrine Ceremony. Jeonsacheong is a special place designated for preparing food to be offered to the deceased souls in Jongmyo Shrine. We will show you the stone mortar, and Eojeong, which was a well dedicated for making the offerings. In addition to these, we will look at the stone plates called Chanmakdan and Seongsaengwi, where the cows, sheep, and pigs for sacrificial offerings were inspected.

Confucianism and Ancestral Offerings
There are many spiritually significant things in this area. First, we will see Gods sacred walkway into Jongmyo Shrine, in which men are not allowed to tread. Then we will go to Hyangdaecheong, which is the place for storing ritual articles, sent by the king on the day prior to the ancestral ceremony. To learn more about the Confucius traditions of the royal family, well examine the dishes used to give food offerings to the invisible souls and the ancestral tablets that provide guidance to the souls of past royalty.
