* Booting ...

Some more fiddling with my computer/music setup. Using a Yamaha digital piano connected to a computer running softsynths with Vstack.

The softsynths you hear are from the Korg Legacy Collection, called the Legacy Cell with two virtual Polysix synths layered for some massive sounds and the Pro53 by Native Instruments.

Back in the eighties a good friend had a real Korg Polysix while i bought a Roland Juno6. Good times. Anyway, back then i was fond of the massive synth pads, and i still like them now.

...

So i programmed a massive string sweeping pad, layered the Pro53's screaming Super Synth Lead on top of that and fired away.

Enjoy:)

  • What a great piece..! You have a truly fantastic sense of harmony and drama.. Have you got any stuff up on iTunes..?

  • @batmanovitch Thx. And iTunes? No, lol, not yet. But who knows.

I'm happy with the piece myself too. Played it in one raw run, no editting or what. Just a morning when i was inspired. Most of the times you take a wrong turn somewhere but this time i could keep it up to the end. I was surprised myself and immediately thought, let's make a YouTube out of it.

    Sometimes things come easy;)

  • I've watched a LOT of videos looking for great synth/string sounds, but THIS was absolutely awe- inspiring. I've got the legacy collection and I am inspired to go back and try to dial in something similar to this. any tips or particular sounds that you used?

  • @paulpaid

Thx for the comment. It was one of those days when stuff goes right ... i played it live, for fun, so i was lucky to have pressed the record button:)

The string patch (legacy cell) can be downloaded from

    (see under the download section)

The solo synt is from the Pro53 by Native Instruments, first patch (sync lead or something)

  • I'd love to remix this with some dark drums and basses. Interested? Send an mp3 to duncetheemcee @ g mail dot com

Send the tempo as well to simplify my life.:) gorgeous piece fam. Gorgeous.

  • @njbrilla. You will have a problem, as i played it without tempo/beat:) But i might take you up on your offer and send you the mp3. See what you come up with, as i myself have no talent for either remixing or drums/beat.

    Laterz,

    Max

  • Very very nice sounds? Almost similar to Gary numans on broadway sounds played in 79? I've got a Roland xp80 fully expanded & the sounds are fantastic! I'm just about to purchase a yamaha tyros 4 as I also like the sounds that comes from that kit too!

  • That's really awesome man, super expansive strings there, and I love that lead sound. I have a Roland V-Synth GT Version 2.0 with a Jordan Rudess lead sound that has great depth to it. It's a really expressive synth and you can do quite a bit with it. You've inspired me to record a string melody that I've been playing around with for years and put it up here, it'll be more like an homage than a copy ;)

  • EVERYTIME I hear this, i am so inspired to get back in the lab. Excellent work man. just sublime.

  • awesome!
