  • Thanks guys! Your comments are so fabulous!

  • Please...peel his orange

  • I did! I did! In fact, I have peeled MANY oranges for him since then! =)

  • Kate, you rock! Thank you so much. I am working on a cape that is all cables and it's my first experience and you explained it so well!! -Sarah

  • You're welcome! Wow, a cape? I'd love to see that!

  • I have searched and searched for a good video on cables, and finally found one! Thank you so much, the step by step process really helped me, and I must say, my cables look great.

    Thanks again!

  • You're welcome, glad I could help! Cables don't have to be scary!

  • Helpful, however we can't really see your stitches. A lighter yarn color, a better lit area, a better close up, and a white background (or a blank, solid color background) would help us to see the stitches. Cables are much simpler than I thought. Thanks.

  • i knit in a fashion apparently different from others....it's a method my mom taught me. I've been trying to figure out how to do cable stitches, but the continental method never made sense. This helps a lot. :D Thanks!

  • Would your method of knitting be continental method? I've never seen a right handed knitter knit like this. I wrap my string around my left forefinger, whereas you wrap it around your right. This was a very helpful video, thankyou. I've been trying to figure this out for a long time.

  • i cant seem to do this? it keeps coming out funny looking.

  • Thanks :)

  • This is going to help so much for my dissertation practical project. I was worried cabling was going to be really complex :)

  • @Beauti2988 also if you look at what your knitting you will notice there will be a yarn crossing the front of the loop on the left needle if it is purl while if the yarn crosses the back of the loop on the left needle it is a knit

  • @Beauti2988 This may seem a bit late but Purl is the exact opposite of knit. It is literally the mirror opposite of each other as if you flip whatever your making around you will notice that the knit looks the same as the purl once you turn it around.

Purl is when you knit with the yarn in front

knit is when you knit with the yarn behind

  • I don't understand what you mean when you say "knit the knits and purl the purls

i'm a crocheter and I'm learning...i can't really tell the difference between the two...and the video is a little dark :-(

  • Just what i needed! Fairly new to knitting and have been hiding from trying to learn to cable....but before my eyes appeared something that looked pretty darn good! Thanks!!

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. It helped me immensely. Your son asking you questions was adorable. (^_^)
