Please do not ask me to send you the ISO or the Emulator or help you set it up beyond the info I am about to provide:

HOW WAS THIS DONE?
This was recorded from the emulator "NullDC", which has a special setting that will force games to run in Widescreen mode even though none of them originally supported it. In some instances, this can lead to weird things appearing on the sides of the screen because the game is not normally meant to display anything that far outside of the border. To enable this feature, under "PowerVR" options, select "Extra Geom" for the aspect ratio.

WHAT ARE THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS?
To emulate the Sega Dreamcast at all, you will need a reasonably powerful computer. If you can run something like Team Fortress 2 on High Detail settings, you should have no trouble running NullDC. However, running it in Widescreen HD is a different story - the higher the resolution, the more processing power it will take. I have a 3.2ghz Pentium 4, with 2gb of RAM and a GeForce 6600 GT and I almost get full speed in a lot of games.

WHY ARE THE SOUNDS DIFFERENT?
I cannot run Sonic Adventure 2 and record it at the same time. Thus, I used a trick to record it - but to do that trick, I had to turn the sound off. Instead of just having a silent video, just for the hell of it, I decided to re-dub all the game sounds back in to the video, by hand. Because I did not have all of the Sonic Adventure 2 sounds, I had to substitute other sounds instead. For example, some of Sonic's voice clips are from Sonic Heroes.

ABOUT NULLDC
NullDC is currently the most compatible, most user friendly, and most optimized Dreamcast emulator available. To run a Dreamcast game you will need a Dreamcast BIOS file. You will also need a disc image (ISO) of the game. If you need any of these, just search for them on Google. The current version of NullDC does not support gamepads, so you will have to use either a keyboard or a keyboard-to-gamepad converter (like XPadder). This means that there is no support for analog stick input. If you want gamepad support, please visit the NullDC website and post in the forums about it:

  • Can you do this playing sa2 battle on a Wii rigged up to an hdmi cable?

  • @LiamKawa Does the Wii even support HDMI? I don't think it does. Plus, it'd still be 480p. This is being rendered natively at 720.

  • Dude, the sound dub is absolutely amazing! How long did that take to do? You got every little detail!

  • @shockwave952 I don't specifically remember but I think it was somewhere around two hours. Maybe an hour and a half.

  • Hey I'd love to do this, but I have some questions first. First of all, how was this done and what are the system requirements? I also sort of noticed the sound effects were different. Are you running NULLDC? Can you help me set up my own copy? Thanks a bunch if you respond! Cheers :D

  • sounds like pc
