Manhattan, NY - A large fire broke out at a mixed occupied building on Manhattan's Lower East Side injuring some and forcing the evacuation of many others.

The fire is raging through the roof of the 20x80 six-story building at 285 Grand Street and Forsyth St.

Fire Department requested 7th Alarm and pulled all their men from the structure, fighting the fire from the outside only.

  • @FARStationNo21 Any professional fire department ALWAYS tries an interior attack before moving to exterior. It's the only way to get people out and the only way to save the building. When that fails you move to exterior.

  • @FARStationNo21 Just saw this video and read your dumb comment. Spraying water through the windows pushes the fire in throughout the building. Any halfway decent fire department knows that. Thats how firefighters inside doing an interior attack and any trapped civilians get killed. What surprises me is your user name says stationno21. What kind of shity stupid ass firefighter are you?

  • I hope nobody was hurt.

  • accountability to control this fire with out killing somebody or allowing it to spread to exposures.

  • here's the issue that non firefighters dn't see. You all just keep saying "dump water on it" " spray some water" " do something" what you dont know is that there is a relationship between BTUs generated in a fire and the amount of water required to put out same. This is a HUGE fire and just spraying some water, without a coordinated attack effort will prove fruitless. It will take hours and hundreds of thousands of gallons of water, in combination with controlled ventilation and strict FF

  • where the fuck is Tommy Gavin, now that's funny

  • @MrCharlieOnly The beautiful thing is, you too can aapply and get the job. Then you will be overpaid. Please note the sarcasm. Let me guess, you don't trust any cop as well.

  • @MrCharlieOnly wtf? dude.. they did a search before the fire started to spread... 1-5 floors were searched and cleared... the rescue was done earlier where the families got out onto the fire escape... thanks to the guys at ladder 18,ladder6,ladder 9. and the other engine companies. they do more shit than you would ever know.

  • There is no rescue here at all, only firemen not putting water on the fire.

I know sometimes they earn their money but I can't believe they get paid so well for doing shit like this.

  • @FARStationNo21 and if there are men inside? do u want to steam cook them?
