Killarney Pub Session

'The Old Dungarvan Oak' sung at a ballad and tune session in O'Connor's bar in Killarney.

Thanks to all these kind people for letting me sit in and strum the mandolin for a bit.

Sorry for the monochrome nightshot mode. The light level in O'Connor's, although great for the atmosphere, isn't enough for standard video on my camcorder!

This is great. I used to work at this pub when I lived in Ireland. I know just about everyone in the video. When was this done? I worked there between 2000 and 2002.

This was last year, 2007. Everyone's going strong - I get emails from them. I'll be back there this year with my mandolin for more of the crack. :-)

I sent Margaret the link to this video. There are quite a few videos of them under Paddy's Arrival's when they were last in America with Neil.

Its so expensive in Ireland, it puts you off going a bit, but it is worth it. Its definately been quieter these past couple of years there. xx

@karenhartill : We usually go over every year, but had to miss last year (and maybe this year) due to financial pressure :-( Maggie and Peter (and Frank when he and his bodhran are about) always make me welcome in their song session. We've had many great nights in O'Connors, and a few in The Crock.

These are my dear friends Mags and Peter. We were there last month and they are all fine and well. Pat is still telling stories and Paddy is still dancing. Love watching this video, its like being there, it catches the atmosphere.
