Two dead_ four injured in Islamabad blast-Pakistan(6 Jun 2009)

A suicide bomber on Saturday night (June 6) blew himself up at a police office in the heart of Pakistan's capital Islamabad, killing two police man and injuring four others. The suicide bomber tried to force his way into the compound of the Rescue 15 Unit of police office located in downtown area of the city. The security guards at the gate opened fire to stop him when the bomber detonated the explosives.

Police officials at the site said a member of the Rescue 15 Unit was killed and four others injured in the attack. It was a suicide attack. A man walked up to a police helpline center, the security tried to stop him but he exploded himself, killing one and injuring four others, a police officer said. The limbs of the bomber were scattered across the compound. Ambulances and rescue officials rushed to the site of the blast immediately.

This was the tenth bomb attack in Pakistan since the army launched a campaign against the Taliban in nearby Swat valley. A suicide bomber blew himself up yesterday in Pakistan's restive North West in a mosque packed with worshippers killing 40 people and wounding 50 others, while a roadside bomb hit an army convoy killing seven security personnel. Authorities have increased security in major cities, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, in recent days due to fears of more attacks. Interior Minister Rehman Malik told reporters yesterday that some suspected bombers were caught in Islamabad and Rawalpindi with suicide jackets.
