Actually it's even 133 Pirouettes. Plus the few back from March 2008. 122 of these 133 worked, that is 91,7%. The older version had a safety of, at best, 80%.
Please rate and comment, and maybe try to beat 42 Domino Pirouettes in a row!
The Pirouette technique was used (with my permission) in Domino Day 2009 in the Rain Dance project in the African Flow.

Some detailed instruction on how to build the Pirouette:
The triggering dominoes should touch the spinning domino, and they should cover about 0.8 cm of it (a Domino Day domino, the ones I use in the video, is 0.8 cm thick, so estimating that shouldn't be problem). Also, the spinning domino should be well-balanced. It should lean only slightly against the domino that it is leaning on. Otherwise, it won't turn 180 degrees, but less. The domino that is supposed to be toppled by the spinning domino should be placed in a way that it faces the top of the spinning domino. (Do you know what I mean? If not, just stop the video at the beginning of the 100 Pirouettes falldown, you can see it quite well from that angle.

  • i only counted 73! :( you lied

  • @MrSimpleprick I don't know how you counted... but you should try again.

  • This is a very nice technique ;)

Did WDP asked you permission to use it in domino day?

  • @DavyDomino Not really ask for permission, but they did inform me they were going to use it. They seemed to take it for granted that I would agree ;-)

  • Tolle Idee, Alex!

  • 3 hours only gets 3 stars. Just kidding. It's better in slow motion. Have you tried having each side (front/back and sides) a different color from the other side so they turn around and change color from the side view?

  • 42 ist die Antwort auf alles :)

  • geht mal zur 58 sekunde zurück

  • you have the patience of a god

  • looool all the time you need to push them again

  • It seems that whenever the dominos lose momentum, preferably after a break, they tend to break again. You could try different angles but I don't really see how much of a difference it would make. Nonetheless, great work and great video;)

  • @Annodomino2007

I improved your technique in my domino screen link video

    You should go and see.

  • @MrSimpleprick i paused and counted it is 100

  • Some day, somebody is going to figure out a say that always works. And it will be soooo epic!!!
