Ukraine has turned a tragedy in its past -- the famine of the 1930s -- into an important national issue and a thorn in the side of Russia. But little is heard of some other tragedies of the Soviet era, including those that affected Russians themselves. Are the devastating famines in Kazakhstan and Russia's Volga region bound to be forgotten?

  • Kazakhs and Ukrainans have to stand up together to bring the truth of famine out

  • A third of the Kazakh population was deliberately starved in their own country under the occupation. In this respect the present management in Kazakhstan is seriously out of touch.

  • Radio Free Europe is sick. Maybe they should report about real American crimes instead.

  • we need to stop learning about the holocaust and start learning the holodomor

  • Ukrainian, Kazakh and Tatars always using these famines as a tool in the west against Russia thats all, if so many Kazakh people died why i havent seen any asian dieing in the famine pictures? The truth is that these farmine wasnt the only one, from 1910-21 there was a whole farmine in the Russian regions which caused 10 million deaths also in that time especially in Kazhakstan lived much more Russian then today, so what ever it was intended or not most people who died were Russian probably 80%

  • @magalie518 Easy, go read your history books, back on December 6th 1941, we were at peace, Isolationist, and determined to stay out of the war. Then the Japanese could not let that rest and bombed us at Pearl Harbor. Since then everyone wants our help and committment, if you can tell them for me to shut up and leave us alone, i will wholeheartedly stop being a policeman. Tell the Japs I am still pissed about them interrupting my peace...thanks Gianni

  • @giannivee1 what Stalin and Hitler did were atrocious acts, to say the least, but why is the united states expected to be the police of the world??

  • let us all remember God sees all, and will judge idividuals and nations. Stalin has much to pay for, I am sure in eternity he is at the very center of the lake of fire. He is eclipsed only by Satan!!. The only good thing I can say about Stalin is: "he is now dead". God bless all of those who perished due to him. I wish no one to go to hell, but with a few..it is obvious where they are. I rest easier knowing he is there. God bless the Lord God

  • I detest Hitler and his killing over 6 million jews, but I have always suspected that Stalin"s numbers of dead eclipsed the Fuhrer, my other theory is that when Hitler's intelligence men saw that the world could care less about the millions of dying in the USSR, why should they also be concerned about Jews in concentration camps. In other words, Stalin ignited the entire Holocaust, because we in the west...really didn't care...we were too busy. Let the world know, about all of this!!!
