David and Dania - Quick change artists

This is a short excerpt from The Slammer (Episode 3) a CBBC kids program from the BBC

As you will see it's the same routine they do every time, but with one difference.... she's wearing a Union Jack dress (British flag) on at the end!

Have you worked out they do it?

Well I recon I have, but you'll have to scroll down a bit as I don't want to spoil it for some people.

Heres how I think it was done!

1) First blue dress is ripped off and so bulky it could easily hide the next costume with its frilly bits.

2) Second red dress again is ripped off and again bulky enough to hide the yellow dress underneath.

3) Third yellow dress is ripped off.
The green dress handed to her is a fake and dropped and she also ditches the wig.
The bottom sections of all the other dresses are already carefully folded around her flanks to fall when the dresses shoulders are released.

4) Watch closely as this is an easy one!
She is holding the ring so the guy releases the back of the dress for her.
The green top now drops down to reveal the alternative top hidden underneath., and the cleverly packed bottom section rolls down over the green top (now hanging down) so it is hidden underneath.
They have used a similar coloured screen so to help mask the change, but you can see it happen if you look closely.

5) He rips off his very baggy and heavy black suit to reveal the white one.

6) Similar change to number 4.
She simply holds the red sheet with one hand allowing her to release the dress with the other.

7) Same again as 4 and 6
Again they have used a similar coloured sheet to help mask the change.

8) The easiest change to spot.
Just before he tips the glitter over her, her hands are already holding the dress near her cleavage.
As the glitter falls, she pulls the dress apart at the front.
They top falls down revealing the last dress top and bottom dress to falls down to cover the top.

Voila!

A very cleverly designed and choreographed routine.

If the dresses are simply just dropping to the floor, I can't figure out how they hide them in the floor

The clothes are removed and left inside the big blue and yellow changing sacks for Dania and the pink one for David; none are just dropped straight onto the floor.

I was very bored one evening and as I still had the recording on my PVR I went through if frame by frame.

I really must get out more!
