You can't find a more gut sounding string than weedwackers for the click and fat warm tone, so if you don't want a whole set of weedwackers then a hybrid set with bigger sounding E/A will help you get that fat strong sound you want with the clean clicking great pulling action of FMI weedwackers.

These Eurosonic strings have a metal core with a nylon winding and a ground polymer smooth coat over it all. So they have a smooth feel, strong sound, and can be used with magnetic pickups as well as the standard piezo pickups.

Don't know of any shops in San Francisco that do paint jobs on basses. We can do a custom job for you and ship it to you pretty cheaply. You can pick an Engelhardt bass for the paint job to be done on, or an Eastman. Either one is a dependable well made bass that will sound off great for you!

@blackxknight Unstring the bass and take it to any auto body shop they do custom paint work. In CA, it should be pretty easy to find a good one. Although wood, the paint techniques are not much different (additive to allow paint to not crack as the wood expands / shrinks, but they use that on plastic bumper covers anyway). You design it, they'll paint it.
