In this edition of Video Game Recollection, I talk about one of the more rare games/services that were available... and that's Sega Channel.

Please view and enjoy!

*Note* I mixed up my words in this video. It was the Sega Channel service that actually failed, not the Sega Genesis. Sorry for any confusion.

  • Hey Dave, I got an iPhone for Christmas. I'm writing this on my iPhone! I freakin' love it.

  • Hey man, congratulations! I'm really happy for you! =D

  • I miss the Sega Channel... I used to wake up early on the 1st of every month to see what new games were available, and then every two weeks. Admittedly though, I cried when the cable guy came to take the adapter away.

  • Top badass Sega Channel Games: 10: Golden Axe III 9: Earthworm Jim II 8: Road Rash III 7: Mega Bomberman (a BLAST with friends lol) 6: Light Crusader (predecessor to Diablo?) 5: Mortal Kombat series 4: Comix Zone 3: Shining Force Series 2: Phantasy Star Series (especially 4) 1: Shadowrun **** If you haven't played this game, even to this day, you're seriously missing out. This game was easily a decade ahead of it's time, and had the most immersive world ever seen in a game.)

  • Time Warner Cable, TCI and ATT were the only providers that had Sega channel. I loved the service 14.99 cant beat that.

  • My parents didn't want me getting Sega Channel because I could rent games instead. They didn't seem to understand it was more expensive to rent from Blockbuster than getting 50 games for an entire month for $14.99... They eventually gave in and got it for me.. I still have the adapter. They never asked for it back. Its essentially a brick now but it's a nice collectors item.

  • I really miss the 'ol gaming days! I remember the games from sega channel, like golden axe, Road Rash, Sonic 3, Sword Of Vermillion. Really miss them. BTW, Your videos ROCK!!!!

  • Actually, there were also games that were exclusively on The Sega Channel. Then, there were games not exculively on The Sega Channel, but that kind of were, at least to me because I could never find those games in stores. One game in particular was a game called Awesome Possom Kicks Dr. Machineo's Buitt. I'm not kidding There was a game that was really called that. However, I could only play it on The Sega Channel because I could never find it in stores.

  • yes mate! that bevis and butthead game was the shit! loved it!

  • i dont think it was at&t . this was a cable tv service and had nothing to do with a phone company.

  • I enjoyed Sega Channel just as much as you're saying. I never stopped playing through. Golden Axe 2 was the shit, and I didn't even know it was the title. I also played Bevis and Butt-head, and yes, a pure classic. My parents would never let me buy it, but thanks to the sega channel. The game was hard for me, and I had to read up for codes....Epic.

Othergreat games I found was Jurassic Park and also the Rampage edition. The JP games were just as cool as Pitfall.

    Beavis and Butthead

  • I loved the Sega Channel. I was telling my bf about it the other day and he told me that I was crazy and that it didn't exist ...

Beavis and Butthead was the shit! Hahaha.
