@slyfer1077 rock. A vis kei artist can make anything they want. They can have any look. TCST is spooky and Halloween-y. Versailles Philharmonic Quintet is victorian. Malice Mizer has a kind of old-school Gothicism feel. Phantasmagoria is a lot of black and metal like "goth" bands. Mix Speaker's Inc (which I recommend if you like TCST) has a monster theme. Well that's a darker side... Conversely there's a genre called "Oshare Kei". It's..... the opposite. Bunnies and pink and cute and all that.

TCST is part of a genre called "Visual Kei." Vis Kei doesn't describe the sound of the music. It describes a certain look that the band has. And that just means they have any kind of "visual" look to them. Their performances are just as much about the visual part as the sound. A lot of musicians choose this genre for that freedom. A rap artist makes rap. A rock artist makes
