The Strokes - Under Control - San Francisco, Live, Outside Lands Festival Saturday 8-14-10 in HD, at the Polo Fields at Golden Gate Park. Wild show! The only thing that prevented the crowd from turning into an out-of-control mob of fans was that the band's songs are only ~4mins long! Probably the most ridiculous front row experience I've had, but still fun. :P


Other Tidbits:

During the concert, several fans kept humorously yelling out "Don't break up!" (The Strokes took 'an extensive break', ~2 years, after their final tour in 2006). And that probably explains much of the excitement expressed by the fans at this concert.

i cried during this song.

hands down the best part of the show. the way everyone was singing along to julian's epic voice and how mellow everyone was for at least 4 minutes compared to the insane mosh pit and pushing.

It's cool to see Jules so relaxed with the crowd even though The Strokes had stepped from the music scene for a while; that he's not afraid to make mistakes & joke with the crowd. I REALLY NEED TO SEE THEM LIVE! And when I do, I hope he'll be that personal with the crowd! <3

@bobngo10 Yea i was bummed that I was only 16 and couldn't make it to the independent but then i saw a video online and the crowd was just awful! I mean i thought it would be full of AM fans because tickets were only sold to people who also bought OL tickets but nope i was wrong. We didn't miss out on much. But they were deadly close to Alex which would've been awesome.

@thestrokes241 OMG! me too! i was behind some old 40 yr olds who looked lost and scared when i started singing along and jumping and then next to me were some stupid pricks who actually started to have a conversation in the middle of the AM set! and when i tried to get in front of them (because clearly they werent wathching the show) they would get mad nd wouldnt let me through! i wish i was 21 so i wouldve been able to see them at the independent, but i heard that crowd sucked too

@bobngo10 I swear i was in the center of the stiffest, most boring people on earth. There were two kids in front of me slightly bobbing their heads like retards. I wanted to punch them so bad lol. And at one point I screamed "Fake Tales of San Francisco" because I was hoping they'd play it, and the bitch next to me laughed at me. I still had fun though, and they played great.

@thestrokes241 YES!! i was going crazy all the way through and there was even a moshpit for a while but the majority of people were some fucking losers. there were some fans there but we were all scattered and the majority of people just stood there. i mean you can't just stand there when they start with library pictures and follow it with brianstorm. they were mostly ignorant black keys fans who refused to listen to AM. they were just waiting for it to be over so black keys could start. =(

@bobngo10 is it just me or were the crowds kinda lame this year? I mean I was about to go ape shit crazy when Arctic Monkeys came out and started with Library Pictures, but I look around and there's a bunch of fags just standing there. I was like WTF?!
