I. Love. This. Song.

The original song, played during the mine cart levels in Donkey Kong Country, is one of my all-time favorite David Wise pieces. Fun levels and awesome music. When I found out no one had done this piece, at least on YouTube, I knew I had to give it a go. The minor key of the song is great, it helps really make it sound ominous. The quick tempo also adds to the greatness, as well as the chords and key changes. I love how the parts play on top of each other toward the end.

I did this all BY EAR, as with all my arrangements. It was a blast to do. I tried to replicate the echo effect that occurs throughout the original song as best I could without it sounding bad. The only thing I sort of have an issue with is the Shy Guy Chords repeating their sound over and over at the end instead of stringing them together, but that is the original soundfont for ya, and that was the best I could do at this tempo. I still think it works though, and I think the song came out very well. I'm pretty proud of it. I hope I did this song justice.

Enjoy!

  • This is my favorite song too.

  • OH yes. Had them for about 4 years I think. Temporarily played worse after I got them on but since I kept on playing and practicing I got back to where I was. Then when the time came to get them off I was freaking out because an important concert I was a part of with my jazz band was coming up and I thought I wasn't going to be able to play... But then magically I automatically started playing better when I got them off lol. It was amazing!
