@GeistWerk Somebody said every town in the usa big enough to have a walmart super center now has someone claiming to be a gnani. I gave up on advaita and got involved with tibetan dzogchen. best of luck.

@zyxquark okay, I didn't know that guy. I thought you where talking about people like Eckhart Tolle or Mooji, who are both authentic, I think.

@GeistWerk also, all the ones who come through "sailor bob." he's a good example of someone teaching in the name of nisargadatta maharaj who in no way, shape or form had his permission to do so nor was his "enlightenment" acknowledged by nisargadatta. nisargadatta died and out of the woodwork he came claiming he's a gnani. according to them, alll you have to have is a kind of basic intellectual understanding of it all and you're a gnani. well, good luck clinging to that with cancer.

@GeistWerk any of the ones who come from poonja. poonja's first one (whose name escapes me) that guy's OWN MOTHER wrote an expose of him called "the mother of God" and her name was Luna Tarlo. Poonja even tried to convince her, the mother who later wrote the expose', that SHE WAS ENLIGHTENED TOO. really crazy, weird behavior. you can get the book on amazon. by the way, i really didn't post this to argue with people. come to your own conclusions.

I think it's sad, what's happened to advaita in the west. It's been inundated by phoney gnanis to the point that it's either funny or pathetic, depending on your point of view. However, I once met jean klein and believe he was authentic. I don't know, but based on that I think this guy may also be authentic. unfortunately he's lost in the sea of phonies. Maybe in the long run people will find him who are really ready.
