@Seikilou I don't know what this version is about. The classical version is a about a rider surprised by dusk in the Sprengisand desert which the road goes through, fearful of the criminals, evil spirits and other dangers and eager to finally reach Kidagil where the route ends. You see, the classical one is eerie, but some Icelanders do sing it as a cheerful campfire song. This might be a version which actually IS cheerful and thus makes sense as such.
