Edit: the previous comment was foolishly made before watching the final minute of the movie where the urbans *were* enveloped. My bad.

BritishMunkey (Julii) needed to commit more of his infantry to envelop the urbans, which will rip through legionaries if they aren't outflanked, and the auxilla spearmen should have been deployed in a line facing opposite to the infantry to discourage hammer and anvil tactics with the SPQR cavalry.
