Les Alpes, is where the British world champion of speed skiing Marc Poncin met Tommy to show his skills. It is the fasted non mechanized sport in the world with speeds going up to over 240 kilometers or 150 miles per hour! Trying to go as fast as you can, that's what speed skiing is all about.

The only record he holds is the British record. Would be hard if he wasnt from Britain? The world record is held by Simone Origone from Italy. 251.4 kph.

i want to see him on a real downhill track like the streif, Garmisch-Kandahar or in wengen - I'm sure he would die......... That has nothing to do with skiing! Standing on skies and moving down a hill without any curves isn't hard at all!

It's hard to imagine that a Brit holds this record. I spent my formative pro years in Squaw Valley with the guys that really brought this sport to the forefront. Chief amonst all of them was Steve McKinney, the first man to break the 200 KPH barrier back around 1978. He also founded the Camel Series. Unfortunately, Steve's light was extinguished by a drunk driver on the I-5 about 20 years ago.
