A Lyre Bird I encountered at Morton National Park, NSW, Australia. When I heard it sing I walked off track into the bush to see if I could spot it and it jumped into my face and started to sing. So I recorded the songs it sang with my mobile phone and then I played back his own songs to him after which he probably saw me as competition. Trying to impress me even more and oversing his own songs I played back to him, he started singing even more impressive songs. This video is from the end of the Lyre bird experience where he kind of tried out his complete repertoire. He won in the end as I of course walked on ;)

  • The funny thing was, when I encountered the bird I recorded it's songs. So when he (it's a he;) stopped singing I played him back his own songs, after which he saw me as competition I think. He started running around me, singing more impressive songs, and followed me around the forest. This video is taken at the end of the Lyre Bird experience where he tried out his whole repertoire to impress me ;)
