The eastbound Desert Wind passes by Dale St grade crossing in Buena Park, Ca back in July 1994. An Amtrak P40DC leads the 5-car set with a mixture of Phase III and Phase IV Superliner cars. Weird horn sequence from the engineer, sounds like only two long blasts.

Thanks for Watching!!

  • Awesome video Chris!!!!!

  • @SDRailfan thanks

  • Great video! Nice K5LA too!

  • @CentralCoastTrains Thanks man, all the K5LA's were awesome back in the day!!

  • Great video, I miss the desert wind and think it should be put back into service. Amtrak engineers don't always do the long-long-short-long sequence for some reason.

  • @Thunderheadpros Ya some engineers do their own patterns. I kinda like it sometimes!

  • Looks like some strange redux of the El Capitan. In this case it's a great thing. Looks like a real streamliner.
