Personally, I no longer watch anime because its wonderful darkness was lost during its Westernization (late 90's).

Super Dimensional Fortress series box set 4.) Super Dimensional Calvary Southern Cross series box set 5.) Fist of the North Star 6.) Ninja Scroll 7.) Ghost in the Shell 8.) Akira 9.) Vampire Hunter D 10.) Wicked City. It covers the cyberpunk, mecha, fantasy epic and supernatural genres; thus, it is comprehensive.
