a bit disappointed to see James Earl Jones speak like that because Jack Johnson was an extremely articulate man.

@kanjizai lol, i know. jack johnson was so ahead of his time that even when they made a movie about his life 60 years after the fact, they had to get a light skinned black dude to play him and make him talk like a county negro just to make the film more acceptable to the whites of the 70s....lol. imagine how whites felt about the real (dark skinned, gold toothed, white woman suducing, white man beating, fast car driving, loud mouthed and filthy rich) jack johnson of the early 1900's!...lol.

@LordTariq83 I'm just saying you aren't giving Dempsey enough credit, how has he managed to make the top 10 list of every boxing expert if he was just overrated? Johnson was a great boxer and it would have been a good fight in their prime.

@adrenacrumb johnson was almost 40 years old by this time ...very advanced in ring years.....yet he was still able to go 25 rounds and win at least 20 of them...ur boy dempsey could barely go 10 rounds by the time he was 32

@LordTariq83 I've never seen a top 10 list from experts of all-time greats Dempsey wasn't on, so I find it difficult to believe everyone is rating him too high. Dempsey annihilated Willard, he wroke his ribs his eye and his skull and Johnson couldn't put him away in 25 rounds.

@adrenacrumb actually most experts rate johnson over dempsey...dempsey was overrated in my oppinion....name some prime all time greats dempsey ever defeated...all of dempseys opponents were overmatched face first fighters with very little skill....with the exception of carpentier who was clearly out of his league...johnson deff beat better competition

@LordTariq83 I'm not entirely right it seems, they seem to be interchangable in most lists. Since my comment was just pertaining to what would have happened if they fought after the Willard bout I will quit there.

@LordTariq83 You are free to believe that who knows what could have happened, but I am pretty confident most experts rate Dempsey over Johnson as being the overall better boxer for their careers.

@adrenacrumb dempsey also had trouble with smart boxers who moved well(mike gibbons....gene tunney)and jack johnsons punches wee pretty devestating as well...he was bigger than dempsey and much faster.....

@LordTariq83 I mean Dempsey cracked ribs and fractured skulls, he was an absolute beast. Johnson was a great boxer but I don't see him getting an advantage on Dempsey, maybe if he could just outlast him.
