Official Visit of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon

The visiting United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki- Moon and his delegation arrived in Malacañang to have a meeting with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her cabinet members. The top UN official earlier thanked the Philippine government for the Filipino soldiers who are part of the UN peacekeeping contingents sent to troubled countries in the Second Global Forum on Migration (GFMD) at the Phil. International Convention Center in Pasay City.

The President also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Contributions to the UN Standby Arrangement System after their bilateral meeting. The President hosted a dinner later in the evening in honor of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and Madame Ban Soon-Taek. Ban was conferred the Order of Sikatuna with the Rank of Raja by the President during the State Dinner. October 29, 2008, Malacañang
