Up close and personal with Rainbow shark

Isn't he just beautiful? He loves to chase my silver dollar and isn't afraid of anything. A great addition to any tank, they live a long time with proper care. UPDATE---Rainbow passed away suddenly on July 25th, I miss him.

Sorry about your friend :( I lost a lot of my fish earlier this year when my electricity went out. Just decided to go all shark today and picked up two of these guys, bala, and iridescent shark.

@nibblebaby Wow, an irridescent shark, I had 2 of them at the same time and they just grew and grew and grew. I bought a bigger tank and they grew even bigger, I loved them but I had to give them to a pet store that had a pond. They broke a couple of heaters and splashed everything. My fault, I had no idea they got that big. They were probably a foot and a half each, beautiful fish though. Have fun with them.

is it fresh water fish? Does it get along with african dwarf frogs, fire belly toads and regular freshwater fish?

He was a freshwater tropical fish, great personality and passed away suddenly after 8 years. I don't know about dwarf frogs or fire belly toads, but he was good with the other fish I have.

@rhy64 with enough room they will get along with basically everything but other rainbow sharks...dont put them in too small of a tank though. I made the mistake of putting mine in a ten gallon. and while he has enough space, bilologically speaking. he certainly doesnt think so as he has bitten my tiger barbs tail off..
