I am so proud to see someone do the right thing when It comes to the animals that really need a break. You men are Heroes, in a world full of abuse and sadness. GOD BLESS THE ONE WHO CARES FOR THE CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL

They spread fewer diseases in the wild than feral cats and dogs do.
I'm actually part of a rat eradication program with the zoo I intern at. Just because an animal has over-populated and causes some trauma does not mean we have the right to say "down with the beast!!"
Rats aren't vicious- they're wild. All wild animals will fight for their survival, and rats have evolved to do it best.
I don't show animal favoritism. That includes hating something for being better at survival.

Treemeadow...Oh, thanks...you have enlightened me!! No shit it was the infection, I didn't suggest that the rat maliciously stabbed my ancestor with intent to kill, did I? Thats why I said "FROM AN INFECTION" So because you have/had a pet rat that must mean that all rats in the world are cuddly little bundles of love, right? Wrong...they spread disease and destroy everything in the wild.

If you read my comment carefully
"Those wild(NOT PET STORE) rodents should be exterminated."
I guess we can't exterminate all these WILD rats for they serve as food for other predators(hawks, snakes, etc.), but we must exterminate many of them because they are infesting, there is just too many of them. We need to control their population. And I am only talking about rats, not humans. Every time I argue about this, they always try to compare it with the human situation.

Are you sure you want to say over 100 rats and "breed rats for pet stores".
Most pet-store rats are food rats. Please tell me you freeze them before you sell them- otherwise you're only sending your litters to painful deaths.
If you love rats so much, why not establish yourself as a breeder, and improve things for rats. Or are you just trying to make money off them?
Do you REALLY love them, if thats the case?

It wasn't the rat, it was the infection.
Pet rats are fuzzy little benevolent creatures. You will find a feral dog to be more dangerous than rats.
-
uh, not ALL of them :S
Rats themselves carry few diseases. Feral dogs carry far more than rats do.
Its really only black and brown rats that are problems, and even then, it would be foolish to eliminate them all. They maintain a slot of the eco-system, and getting rid of them may have unknown dangers.
Thanks for being kind.
