I would like to very much see that car after its been washed a couple of times, when polishing a car it will leave oils from the glaze on the surface, and it you wipe it even it will look like their all gone, but take alcohol and wipe the surface and then post this video again, I would have to prove you wrong., been doing this for way to long to believe this video, sorry dude but its the truth

Well first it would be difficult to see this truck now because this demo was done a few years ago and the owner doesn't own it anymore. Second, if you've been doing this for a long time then you'd know that "polishing" is the process of removing imperfections in the paint with the use of an abrasive polishes/compounds, heat and/or friction.... glazes do not contain mechanical abrasives and are not "worked in" so they cannot and do not polish the paint.

These video show the use of abrasive polishes - not glazes....The oils in these polishes are the carrying agents and they provide very little, if any, covering properties. As far as glazes, they do cover "some" imperfections but only light marring or scratches, I have NEVER seen a glaze cover anything this severe. As far as using alcohol, I do use it when I do a test spots area before I detail a car to make sure that the polish/pad combo I'm using is aggressive enough to remove the marring.

My website paintcarendetailing shows many side by side - before and after shots using some of the same polish/pad combo and same procedures. The side by side ones of the Highlander and Land Rover are actually after alcohol wipe down and shows that this method can and does remove scratches/marring and doesn't just covering them.

...Or you could skip all of this BS and zip out those scratches in five seconds with a rotary buffer, then jewel the surface with the Porter Cable, which is the way it should be done unless you're rich and retired and have nothing to do but buff one panel all day long with the PC.

hey I tried removing swirl marks with Meguiars Swirl Remover and one of them cheaper, plastic random orbital polishers... you know the ones with the two side by side handles with a foam pad on... but i got nowhere!

should I buy a rotary polisher with variable speed and use a wool pad? using the same Meguiars Swirld Remover?

it's a Porter Cable 7424(discontinued) you can buy the 7424XP which is basically exactly the same. Google it, the lowest I've seen is 120 bucks without shipping. There is actually a site that still sells 7424's for 110.
