On an interesting note, Considering how much meaning this game could have had (starting the season 1-0 would have been a huge start for the lions as you say), you would think that catch would have meant so much to him and he would have just hugged that ball and never let go.  Its just strange he threw it away like he did.

@Kartkid024 well if they one that game, they would have a lof of confidence for them that can takeover into other games. which could have gave us enough wins to go to the playoffs. also johnson takes the blame here but you have to think if that was you and made that,but another bad thing that happen was because we lost Matt stafford that was a big bummer. he could have moved us down the feild for the TD. but that is in the past and ty for respecting my Opinion.

Yeah sure it could have been a game winner. But we see plays like this all the time. It could have been but it turned out it wasn't. And Johnson's the only one to blame (well, as for that play anyway). I'm sure starting the season with a win would have been great, but they lost a close one fair and square, it hurt I'm sure. Atleast they finished strong anyway. It didn't make a difference come playoffs anyway, if I'm correct the teams would have been seeded the same anyway.

@Kartkid024 dude do you expect the lions to come in looking like the patriots. they just came off a 2-14 season. if johnson dropped it by choice I mean he was excited because that could have been the game winner. I mean who wouldn't be that just came off a 2-14 season and in the first game even tho it was not a "deserving win" come up with a game winning touchdown to end a losing streak and everyone on the team would be joyfull and cheering for you. if that was a peyton manning to wayne,TD.

But like you said, a win is a win. However the rule is not a retarded one, it was created to eliminate any doubt of whether the ball was dropped or released by choice. Many including myself, at first sight in full motion said it looked like he dropped the ball. And after the replay I'm about 80 percent sure he released it by choice, however I'm not 100 percent. the fact he has 1 hand on it makes the 20 percent doubt. He knew the rule, so he should follow it.

Yeah, ever heard of Devin Hester. Of course he has never returned a kick off for a lot of yards, or atleast got them close enough for a Field goal. Yes, the way that game was being played, I easily think their could have been a comeback. In the end yes the Bears did make mistakes, however they out played detroit by enough, that it only took one detroit Mistake to lose the game. And Johnson made the biggest. It wasn't the ref, it wasn't the rule, it was Johnson's fault.

Thats considering the bears don't score with the remaining time left. Which would have been suprising the way the bears where all over the lions. Sometimes you get wins you don't deserve. That wasn't the situation here.
